Best Value Bean to Cup Coffee Machines
This is the machine for those who want a fully customizable single-press, hands-free Latte. For more information, read our Beem Espresso Grinder Profession review.
Its bean hoppers that can be swapped allow you to experiment with different blends at the drop of a hat and its different profiles mean you can pick up right where you left beginning. Additionally, it's less costly than capsule machines and uses real coffee beans rather than ground coffee beans that are pre-ground.
1. Smeg BCC02

Designed by Milan-based firm Deep Design, this sleek compact and striking machine combines the brand's inimitable retro style with cutting-edge technology. It handles every step of the coffee-making process - from grinding beans and tamping them into a puck to texturing milk and dispensing the correct amount of coffee - meaning you can make high-quality barista hot drinks with the click of one button.
The machine is also available in red, black, or taupe. It is a great integrate into any kitchen design. The machine does not come without flaws, however. Most reviewers found that it was expensive for a cup-to- bean maker (and it doesn't come with the milk pitcher).
But there were also many glowing reviews about the quality of the coffee as well as the ease of using this machine. The user-friendly digital display offers an easy-to-follow guideline and feedback throughout the making process, allowing you to perfect your drink every time. The machine will even tell you to adjust the size of your grind in case that's not what you prefer. It's almost like having a personal home barista (minus Harry Potter's invisibility cloak, and Elon Musk's rocket-building expertise).
If you prefer drinks with milk this model comes with an adjustable steam wand in both directions to accommodate most drinking vessels short of the Viking's drinking horn. We were impressed by the speed and efficiency of the frothing process too. It also produces an amazing espresso with great crema and a full flavor despite its compact size.
The BCC02 is an excellent all-rounder, quiet and efficient and provides excellent value for money at its current price of PS499. The only drawback is the fact that it doesn't offer the same degree of customization as other bean to cup models we've tried. It's got a 15-bar pump rather than the more common 19 bar which isn't as effective for making high-quality espressos. This is a fantastic machine for those who prefer their coffee strong and dark. 2. Melitta Barista TS Smart
The Barista TS Smart has a range of characteristics that distinguish it from the competition. Its most unique characteristic is that it can be controlled by your smartphone using the Melitta Connect app. This lets you alter the settings and also to dispense different coffee recipes stored in the machine.
This makes the machine flexible and able to adapt to your preferences. There are a variety of options to alter the intensity of your drink, cup sizes and even whether you'd like milk to be added. The machine also has two airtight bean containers that automatically select different types of coffee. It defaults to standard espresso beans in one, and cafe crem (a German variation of long black or flat white) in the other, but you can choose whatever beans you like. There's also a convenient chute for coffee that has been ground if you'd like to make your own (for example in the event that your dinner guest brings their own).
Users have also been amazed by the speed of the machine. It is faster than any other machine they've used. Another benefit is that it will warn you when one of its hoppers is almost empty, so you aren't caught running out of your favorite beverage.
The only thing that may be a negative for some people is the price tag. It's not cheap, at nearly PS999. But, it's cheaper than similar Jura machines with the same number of features.
The Barista TS Smart is backed by a generous warranty, offering two years of coverage. This is more than the standard one-year guarantee, so it is a good assurance from the manufacturer. It also includes the cleaning tablet and descaler, making it easy to keep on top of your machine's needs for maintenance. This is an excellent machine for those seeking a high-end and flexible bean to cup machine that is affordable.
